Independant project
My pieces are meant to appear as things that don't look like they could be real in places that look like they could be real, like a mountain-sized meteorite in a mountain range.
The most outlining aspect about how I created these pieces is that they have very little outlining. They were created with coloured pencils and pastels but they are mostly made up and shaped with just colour, creating a sort of cartoony look for them. I used as many different colours for shading, lighting and texture as I possibly could. I used oil pastels for the background colours and coloured pencils for the more detailed subjects such as the human in #1, the dragon in #2 and the ship in #3.
I was inspired by fiction as a whole. I wanted to create something that makes others wish it was real or wish they could be there. I chose this topic because I have always been fascinated by fantasy and fictional worlds and I've always wanted to make my own.
I did not have too much trouble with the creation process, but if there were anything I could go back and do better it would be how I managed my time. I completely underestimated the extent of this project and it definitely hindered my work. If there is anything I could praise myself for it would be my use of multiple media in shading and texture.
